Pltte (“Pltte,” “we,” “us”) is a personalized cooking and taste-intelligence app. This policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. Questions? Email hello@pltte.co.
Information we collect
Account information. Your name, email, username, and a securely hashed password when you sign up. If you sign in with Google or Apple, we receive your name and email from that provider.
Cooking and taste data. The dishes you cook, rate, save, and skip; your flavor feedback; and the taste profile (your “Taste DNA” and “Foodprint”) we derive from that activity. This is the core of how Pltte personalizes your recommendations.
Dietary preferences. Any dietary restrictions or preferences you share, so we can tailor and filter recommendations.
Photos and pantry. Meal photos you choose to upload, and the ingredients you add to your pantry.
Your neighborhood, stores, and grocery runs (optional). If you choose to, you can name your neighborhood, pick the stores you usually shop at, mark items on a grocery run as found, missing, or too expensive, and record what an item cost. We never ask for or collect your GPS location for this — the neighborhood is a name you pick from a list, and every one of these steps is skippable.
Approximate location (optional). If you use the store finder, your device shares its location so we can find nearby stores for that lookup. You can decline the location permission and still use the rest of the app.
Device and usage data. Basic technical data needed to run the app, and push-notification tokens if you enable notifications.
How we use your information
- To generate and improve your personalized recommendations and taste profile.
- To operate core features (cooking logs, pantry, photos, store finder).
- To build neighborhood totals— what a neighborhood cooks, what it couldn’t buy locally, and what a basket costs there — so local stores can see real demand and stock accordingly. Stores and partners only ever receive these totals. They never see your name, your address, your list, or anything that identifies you, and we hold a neighborhood’s numbers back entirely until enough people are logging that no figure can be traced to any one person.
- To send notifications you’ve enabled (meal ideas, rating reminders).
- To maintain security, prevent abuse, and provide support.
- To understand product usage and improve Pltte.
How we share your information
We do not sell information that identifies you personally.
Service providers. We use trusted providers to run Pltte — hosting and database, file storage, email, authentication (Google, Apple), and AI processing for certain features. They may process your data only to provide these services to us.
Aggregated, de-identified insights. Pltte studies how people cook and what flavors trend. We may create and share aggregated, de-identified insights — for example, cohort-level flavor and cuisine trends — with partners such as brands and retailers. These insights are designed so they cannot reasonably be used to identify you.
Legal. We may disclose information if required by law or to protect rights, safety, and the integrity of our service.
Your choices and rights
Your taste profile is yours. You can access, correct, or delete your account and its data — email hello@pltte.co and we’ll help.
You control notifications in your device or app settings, and location access in your device settings. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights (such as access, deletion, or portability) under laws like the GDPR or CCPA; contact us to exercise them.
Data retention
We keep your information while your account is active or as needed to provide the service, then delete or de-identify it, except where we must retain it for legal reasons.
Security
We protect your information with industry-standard measures, including encryption in transit and hashed passwords. No method is perfectly secure, but we work hard to keep your data safe.
Children
Pltte is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy. We’ll revise the date above and, for material changes, provide notice in the app.
